Preliminary Reading Notes
How this chart evaluates Major Luck periods and real-time layers
Each Major Luck period is governed by a SINGLE hexagram line. A Yang line rules nine years and a Yin line rules six years, starting from the Yuan Tang (Governing Line) of the Pre-Heaven Hexagram, ascending to Line 6, wrapping to Line 1 until all six lines complete, and then transitioning to the Yuan Tang of the Post-Heaven Hexagram. Ages follow traditional East Asian reckoning.
Each period is evaluated across five classical He Luo markers drawn directly from the Ten Auspicious Patterns, without borrowing Ziping BaZi concepts:
| Governing Line Commentary Criterion 3: Auspicious Line Text | auspicious +4 · balanced 0 · conditional −2 · challenging −4 |
| Hexagram Classification Criterion 1: Auspicious Hexagram Name | auspicious +1.5 · balanced 0 · challenging −1.5 |
| Three Blessing Spirits Present Hua Gong, Heaven Primal Qi, Earth Primal Qi | +0.6 per spirit present |
| Proper Month-Line Polarity Criterion 8: Yang birth month on Yang line, Yin month on Yin line | aligned +1 · mismatched −1 |
| Correspondent Line Support Criterion 5: Correspondent line 3 seats away holds opposite Yin-Yang polarity | supported +1 · unsupported −1 |
| Seasonal Alignment Multiplier Heaven & Earth sums vs. birth season requirement | aligned: positive ×1.15, negative ×0.85 contrary: positive ×0.80, negative ×1.15 |
The four bars after the dashed divider layer real-time cycles step by step:
| luck+yr | Current Major Luck period combined with this year's Annual Hexagram |
| + month | Adds the active Solar-Term Month hexagram |
| + day | Adds today's Daily Hexagram (derived via the 6-day week cycle) |
| + hour | Adds the active two-hour Earthly Branch hexagram |
Each cumulative bar averages all layers included up to that step; when every active layer leans in the same direction, an extra +1 or −1 convergence step is added, reflecting the classical timing rule that unison across natal, luck, annual, monthly, and daily hexagrams manifests events most distinctly.
Please note: Classical canons specify which qualitative signs to read, whereas the numerical weights above are this platform's standardized visual scale for comparing periods side by side. To understand what concrete events a period brings, inspect the specific hexagram and line oracle of that period.
