The lunar year 1997 is the Ding Chou (Ox) year (NaYin element: Stream-Beneath Water (Jian Xia Shui)). Under the official Vietnamese UTC+7 astronomical standard, Lunar New Year Day (1st of the 1st Lunar Month) falls on Friday, 07/02/1997, preceded by a 29-day short 12th Lunar Month (New Year's Eve falls on 29/12, with no 30th day). In Four Pillars of Destiny (BaZi) and Feng Shui, the solar-term year transitions at Start of Spring (Lichun) on Feb 04, 1997 at 02:02 (UTC+7). Astronomically, the 1997 lunar year has no leap month (12 regular lunar months). Both Vietnamese UTC+7 and East Asian UTC+8 meridians align on the same Gregorian Lunar New Year date this year.
