Black Tortoise
What stands behind the house: a hill, a tall building, or empty space. A solid back keeps the household steady.
Green Dragon
The left side, standing inside looking out, should be higher, with trees or solid buildings. If it is missing, the book shows how to make up for it.
White Tiger
The right side should be lower and quiet. A tiger taller than the dragon tends to overpower the owner.
Red Bird
The front needs open space where Qi can gather, called the Bright Hall.

Part 00 of the book · House recordBefore any reading, the house is redrawn to proper architectural standards: a floor plan and an elevation on a grid of axes, walls and openings to scale, floor levels and measured sides, then the sitting and facing axis drawn through the centre of the building. The facing is taken from the axis of the whole building, never from the angle of a single door.

Why both schools at once
Eight Mansions asks which people the house suits, so it decides where to sleep, where to sit and which way the stove faces. The Flying Stars ask what time the house is in, so they decide which year to renovate, which door to open, which corner to keep still.
A corner can be good by one school and poor by the other. In the book, every disagreement has its own box: what each school says, which one Master Ung Khiem follows, and why.

Questions
What language is the book written in?
Vietnamese. Master Ung Khiem writes every book by hand in Vietnamese, and the sample pages on this page come from the Vietnamese original.
How is this different from the readings on the 3D House tool?
The readings on the 3D House open instantly, each one covering a single topic. The Complete Book is written by hand, joining both schools into one account of the whole house and everyone in it, with an architectural drawing, boxes that settle each disagreement between the schools, a repairs calendar, and a PDF you keep for life.
How do I find the facing without a compass?
Use the compass on your phone. Stand inside, back to the house, looking straight out through the main door, hold the phone flat, away from iron doors and electrical devices, and read the degree. For an apartment, use the main door of the apartment. If unsure, write the number you read and send a photo of the facade.
Can I order for a house not yet built or under construction?
Yes, and this is when the book helps most. For a house not yet built the facing is set from the drawings, and during construction the foundation axis can still be adjusted. Say so in the note and send the drawings after ordering.
What if the house falls on Kong Wang?
The facing is taken from the axis of the whole building, so the book does not use the trick of angling a door. For a house not yet built the facing is reset, during construction the foundation axis is adjusted, and for a finished house the book discusses changes to the facade and the main block. Part 07 measures the line and states whether your house is affected.
Which year should I choose?
The year you are about to live in the house, usually next year. Volume Three reads that whole year: where the stars fly, which months are heavy, which days allow Groundbreaking. The Eight Mansions part and the outlook to the end of Period 9 stay useful for years.
Is it written by hand or by machine?
The calculations, such as the charts, annual and monthly stars and good days, are done by computer, because a computer is more precise. The reading, the judgement between the two schools and the advice are written by Master Ung Khiem himself. That is why the book takes 48 hours to 3 days.
