Annual Flying Stars 2027: the Ding Wei nine palace chart, monthly stars and cures by sector

If you remember only one thing for 2027, make it this: leave the North of your home alone, keep the Southeast clean and bright, and keep the middle of the home clear. Those three habits cover more than half of the Ding Wei year's feng shui.

At the end of every year I receive the same questions again and again: where should the study desk go next year, is a north facing front door a problem, should we renovate the kitchen, what should we hang to stay healthy. Almost all of them come back to one map: the annual flying stars, the nine stars of the year flying into the nine sectors of the home. Once you understand that map properly, you can answer most of these questions yourself, without chasing rumors or buying objects because everyone else is.

I wrote this guide at length because I want it to serve you for the whole year. You do not need to read it in one sitting. Read the quick answer above, look at the chart in section 4, then jump to the room or the month you need. When you want to know why, come back to the early sections on the Lo Shu and the formula. 1. What annual flying stars are and where they come from

Flying stars (飛星, fei xing) literally means stars that fly. They are not stars in the sky but the nine numbers of the Lo Shu, each with a name, an element and a character. These numbers do not stand still: they rotate through the nine palaces by year, by month, by day and even by hour. The yearly layer is called the annual flying stars (流年飛星), or simply the year stars.

The nine stars and their names

The nine stars are named by color and known together as the Purple White nine stars (紫白九星): 1 White, 2 Black, 3 Jade, 4 Green, 5 Yellow, 6 White, 7 Red, 8 White, 9 Purple. Each also borrows a name from the Big Dipper: Tan Lang, Ju Men, Lu Cun, Wen Qu, Lian Zhen, Wu Qu, Po Jun, Zuo Fu, You Bi. Students of Zi Wei Dou Shu will recognize these names, but do not mix them up: in Xuan Kong they are only alternative names for the nine numbers, not the major stars of a birth chart.

The roots: Lo Shu, Xuan Kong and the Shen school

The deepest root is the Lo Shu (洛書), the nine cell square that, as legend has it, Emperor Yu saw on the back of a sacred turtle in the Luo River. The nine numbers are arranged so that every row, column and diagonal adds up to 15. Later scholars matched those nine cells with the eight Later Heaven trigrams and the eight directions, creating the nine palaces used in every directional calculation.

On that base the Xuan Kong (玄空) school developed a way to move the nine numbers through time. The foundational text is Di Li Bian Zheng by Jiang Dahong in the early Qing, written so guardedly that almost only insiders could read it. Only in the early twentieth century did Shen Zhureng's Shen Shi Xuan Kong Xue openly explain how to cast a star chart, and the Republican era Zhai Yun Xin An set out hundreds of real houses as case studies. The annual sha such as Tai Sui, Sui Po and the Three Killings were systematized in the imperial almanac Xie Ji Bian Fang Shu under the Qianlong emperor. When you read the annual chart today, you are using a very small but very practical part of that whole body of knowledge.

How the year stars differ from the house chart

This is where most people get confused. In Xuan Kong every house has its own natal star chart, cast from its facing and the period in which it was built or moved into. That chart holds mountain stars, facing stars and base stars, and stays with the house for twenty years. The annual stars, by contrast, are the same for every home: in 2027 everyone has the 5 Yellow in the North and the 8 White in the Southeast.

Think of it like this: the house chart is the soil of the garden, the annual stars are the weather of the year. Good soil in a year of kind rain brings a big harvest; poor soil in a drought year needs extra care. This guide is about the weather, the shared layer anyone can use. Period 9 changes how we read the stars

From 2024 to the end of 2043 we are in Period 9, ruled by the 9 Purple star. In Xuan Kong the ruling star carries prosperous qi; the star of the next period carries growing qi (in Period 9 that is star 1, and star 2 further ahead); the star whose period just ended carries retreating qi (star 8); stars further away are declining or dead qi. So 2027 has a rare advantage: the ruling star 9 sits right in the middle of the home. Star 8 is still the strongest wealth star among the annual stars but is past its peak, while star 1 in the Northwest is rising. I use this scale when reading each palace in section 5.

2. The Lo Shu and the nine palace flight path

To read flying stars you only need to know one picture and one route. The picture is the Lo Shu drawn with North at the top. The route is the order in which the stars visit the palaces, called the flight path.

The home positions of the nine numbers

In the original Lo Shu, 5 sits in the center, 1 in the North, 9 in the South, 3 in the East, 7 in the West, 6 in the Northwest, 8 in the Northeast, 2 in the Southwest and 4 in the Southeast. The old mnemonic says: wear 9 on the head, tread on 1, 3 on the left, 7 on the right, 2 and 4 are the shoulders, 6 and 8 the feet. That rhyme assumes the classical South-up drawing; turned so North is on top, as in this series, 1 sits in the middle of the top row and 9 in the middle of the bottom row.

The path 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 1, 2, 3, 4

If you follow the numbers upward from 5, you pass through the palaces in this order: center, Northwest, West, Northeast, South, North, Southwest, East, Southeast. That is the flight path used for every chart. Put any star in the center, and the next star (plus 1) goes to the Northwest, plus 2 to the West, plus 3 to the Northeast, and so on. Past 9, wrap back to 1.

Annual stars always fly forward, adding one at a time. In house charts stars sometimes fly in reverse, but for annual and monthly stars you only need the forward direction. Try it with 2027: put 9 in the center, then 1 goes Northwest, 2 West, 3 Northeast, 4 South, 5 North, 6 Southwest, 7 East, 8 Southeast. All nine palaces are filled.

3. Work out the center star for any year

The annual star steps back by one each year and returns after nine years. 2026 had 1 in the center, 2027 has 9, 2028 will have 8, and so on. Because the rhythm is so regular there is a neat formula I teach my students to do in their heads.

A full worked example for 2027

1. Add the digits: 2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11.
2. Reduce to one digit: 1 + 1 = 2.
3. Subtract from 11: 11 - 2 = 9. So in 2027 the 9 Purple star enters the center.
4. Fly forward from 9: Northwest 1, West 2, Northeast 3, South 4, North 5, Southwest 6, East 7, Southeast 8.

Try a few more years to get the feel. 2026: 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, reduced to 1, 11 - 1 = 10, above 9 so subtract 9 to get 1, which is indeed 1 White in the center. 2028: digit sum 12, reduced to 3, 11 - 3 = 8. 1984: digit sum 22, reduced to 4, 11 - 4 = 7. The method works for the last century and this one because it is simply division by 9 with a remainder.

When the year star changes

Annual flying stars follow the solar term calendar, not the lunar or the Gregorian calendar. The Ding Wei star year begins at Li Chun (Start of Spring), on the morning of 4 February 2027 Vietnam time, and runs until just before Li Chun the following year, 4 February 2028. Lunar New Year 2027 falls on 6 February, so the year star changes two days before Tet. If you were born or are planning something big between January and early February, count by this boundary.

4. The 2027 Ding Wei flying star chart, North at the top

This is the most important chart in the article. Throughout the Feng Shui 2027 series I always draw North at the top, South at the bottom, East on the right and West on the left, so it matches the maps, phone compasses and floor plans you are used to. Old Chinese books draw it the other way round, with South at the top, so if you compare with other sources, remember to rotate the picture.

Dividing your own home into nine palaces

The chart is only useful once you lay it correctly over your own floor plan. This is how I teach my students to do it:

1. Get the floor plan, or sketch one by hand roughly to scale. For a multi-storey house, divide each floor separately.
2. Find the center of the home: for a square or rectangular plan, draw the two diagonals and the crossing point is the center. For an irregular or L-shaped home, fill in the missing corner to make a rectangle first, then draw the diagonals.
3. Stand at the center holding a compass (away from the fridge, steel frames and power sockets) and find true North.
4. Draw eight rays 45 degrees apart, 22.5 degrees either side of each main direction. Or simply divide the plan into a three by three grid by length and width; this is easier and good enough for annual stars.
5. Write the 2027 star number in each cell, then see which rooms and objects sit in which cell.

5. Palace by palace: nine stars, nine things to do

How good or bad a star turns out depends on the element of the palace it lands in. The same 8 White is strong in a palace that feeds it and held down in a palace that controls it. The figure below sums up the element relationship of all nine star and palace pairs in 2027.

Four relationships to remember: when the palace produces the star, the star is fed and grows stronger; when the star produces the palace, the star gives away strength and weakens; when the star controls the palace, the star spends strength but the people linked to the palace get hurt; when the palace controls the star, the star is held down and needs a bridging element to let the qi flow. In 2027 no palace shares an element with its star, so every palace has something to discuss.

Southeast: 8 White (八白), the money palace of the year

8 White is Earth, also called Zuo Fu, the star of wealth, property and accumulation. This year it lands in the Xun palace, which is Wood. Wood controls Earth, so the palace controls the star: the wealth star is present but held down, like a talented trader sitting in a cramped office. The fix is to bridge with Fire: Wood feeds Fire and Fire feeds Earth, so a warm yellow lamp kept on often in the Southeast links the flow of qi from palace to star.

In terms of period, star 8 has just passed its peak in Period 8 (2004-2023) and is now retreating qi, but it still carries a great deal of residual strength and remains the strongest wealth star of the year. This corner suits a safe, a desk, a cash counter, the living room or the couple's bedroom, and it is very good if the main door or a frequently used door opens here. Suitable objects: citrine, glazed ceramics in yellow and brown, a salt lamp, a lidded ceramic jar. A small, clean, lit water feature placed by water method rules can also be used to activate wealth.

Avoid large leafy plants (more Wood, holding Earth down further), junk, rubbish bins, and damp dark bathrooms. If your Southeast happens to be a bathroom, keep it very dry, keep a light on, close the toilet lid and keep the door shut. Northwest: 1 White (一白), rising mentor luck

1 White is Water, also called Tan Lang, ruling mentors, career, writing and romance. The Qian palace is Metal, and Metal produces Water, so this is the best pair of the year: the palace feeds the star. On top of that, Qian's original Lo Shu number is 6, and 1 with 6 is a He Tu pair that together produces Water; the old books call it one and six of the same source, favouring exam success and support from superiors. In Period 9, star 1 is growing qi, the qi of the future. I rank the Northwest level with the Southeast this year, in some ways even slightly ahead, because its star is not held down.

Qian corresponds to the father, the head of the household, the head and lungs. This corner is ideal for the master bedroom, the study of someone seeking promotion, or the desk of an older child preparing for university entrance exams. Activate it with clean water: a glass vase of clear water, a small fish tank, a painting of rivers and streams, plus some white or silver metal so that Metal keeps feeding Water. Good colours: white, silver grey, navy, black.

Avoid putting the stove in the Northwest. Eight Mansions books call a stove in the Qian palace fire burning the heaven gate; this year the fire is also doused by the water of 1 White, which is even less settled. If the stove is already there, there is no need to move it; just keep it tidy and place a bowl of clean water nearby. Read more in 1 White 2027.

Center: 9 Purple (九紫), the heart of the year

9 Purple is Fire, also called You Bi, ruling celebrations, marriage, reputation and advancement. It is the ruling star of Period 9, so in any year it enters the center the whole household shares a little of its prosperous qi. The center is Earth, and Fire produces Earth: the star gives some strength to the palace, but because it is in its prime it stays very strong. 9 Purple magnifies whatever it meets: good gets better and bad gets worse. A tidy, bright center means a cheerful year; a cluttered, dark center locks the good away.

What to do is very simple: clear the middle of the home, no boxes, washing machine or storeroom there. Turn on warm yellow light in the evening, perhaps a lamp with a soft red or violet shade, a vase of fresh flowers, a painting with warm red tones. Weddings, longevity celebrations and family gatherings this year are best held in a central living room. No chiselling, drilling or pouring concrete at the center. If the center is a staircase or a bathroom, simply keep it clean and bright and do not worry too much. Dedicated articles: 9 Purple 2027 and romance and marriage 2027.

South: 4 Green (四綠), the study corner

4 Green is Wood, also called Wen Qu, the scholar star: study, exams, writing, signing documents. The Li palace is Fire, and Wood produces Fire: the star gives away strength to feed the palace, so scholarly luck is a little thin this year. The way to compensate is to add Water to feed the Wood: plants grown in water, such as pothos, dracaena or peace lily in a vase, are ideal, since they bring both Water and Wood.

Li corresponds to the middle daughter, the eyes and the heart. The South suits a child's study desk, a reading nook, a writing desk, or the office of someone who works with words, research or design. Familiar objects are four pens in a holder, a scholar pagoda, a tidy bookshelf. The classic Zi Bai Jue says 四一同宮，準發科名之顯, meaning that when 4 and 1 share a palace, exam honours and fame are sure to come; this year 1 is in the Northwest and 4 is in the South, so a family with a child sitting exams can use both corners.

Keep in mind: in the Wu month (06/06-06/07/2027) the monthly 5 flies into the South, right in exam season. That month, do not renovate or move the study desk; the child should keep studying as usual. Avoid ovens or very strong red lights in this corner, since fire burns Wood quickly. Dedicated articles: 4 Green 2027, study and exam luck 2027, study desks and children's rooms 2027.

Southwest: 6 White (六白) meets Tai Sui

6 White is Metal, also called Wu Qu, ruling authority, patrons, promotion, travel, the military and finance. The Kun palace is Earth, and Earth produces Metal, so the star is very well fed. Judged by the star alone, the Southwest would be in the top group. But in the Ding Wei year Tai Sui sits in the Wei mountain, from 202.5 to 217.5 degrees, the southern half of the Southwest palace. That is why I rank the Southwest only fifth: usable, but with a light hand.

Kun corresponds to the mother, the wife, the belly and digestion. This corner suits a boss's desk, managers, people waiting for promotion, and the parents' bedroom. Activate it with round metal objects, a brass sphere, a small bronze horse, white and gold tones. No chiselling walls, no drilling, no starting renovations here. If you work here you may sit with your back to the Southwest, but do not sit facing straight toward the Wei mountain: the old saying is that you may sit on Tai Sui but must not face it. East: 7 Red (七赤), watch for money leaks

7 Red is Metal, also called Po Jun, ruling financial loss, theft, petty people, sharp words and injuries that draw blood. In Period 9 it is declining qi. The Zhen palace is Wood, and Metal controls Wood: the star strikes the palace, so the people linked to Zhen, the eldest son, the liver, the hands and feet, are easily affected. Zhen's original number is 3, so 7 arriving here pairs with 3 in what the books call a piercing combination, prone to theft, disputes and cuts to hands and feet.

The remedy is to drain Metal with Water: Metal produces Water, so water draws strength from Metal. Place a vase of clear water or a small water feature, in navy or dark grey. Reduce sharp metal objects such as knives and scissors hanging on the wall, decorative swords and metal wind chimes. If the main door or a large window is in the East, check the locks, fit a motion sensor light, and do not keep cash or gold in this corner. If the eldest son's bedroom is in the East, remind him to be careful with sports and on the road. Dedicated article: 7 Red 2027.

Northeast: 3 Jade (三碧) meets Sui Po

3 Jade is Wood, also called Lu Cun, ruling gossip, quarrels, lawsuits and temper. The Gen palace is Earth, and Wood controls Earth: the star strikes the palace, affecting the youngest son, the hands and the back. Gen's original number is 8, and 3 with 8 is a He Tu pair that produces Wood, so the Wood grows stronger and disputes flare more easily. The Northeast this year also holds Sui Po in the Chou mountain, 22.5 to 37.5 degrees, directly opposite Tai Sui.

The remedy is to drain Wood with Fire: Wood produces Fire, so fire draws strength from Wood. Use a red lamp, a red rug, objects in red and pink tones. Avoid water and green plants here, because Water feeds Wood and plants are Wood, both making 3 Jade stronger. Do not place a meeting table, a transaction counter, a customer service phone or a negotiation desk here. Absolutely no ground breaking or starting construction in the Chou mountain. West: 2 Black (二黑) under the Three Killings

2 Black is Earth, also called Ju Men, the sickness star: illness, digestion, worry, difficult births. The Dui palace is Metal, and Earth produces Metal: the star must give strength to feed the palace, which is the lucky part, as the sickness star is drained by its palace. But Dui's original number is 7, and 2 with 7 is a He Tu pair forming Fire, and Fire in turn feeds Earth, nourishing 2 Black back. Add the Three Killings covering the whole West, and I still put the West in the group that needs careful handling, only lighter than the North.

Dui corresponds to the youngest daughter, the mouth, teeth and lungs. Cure it with Metal: a brass bell, six coins, a six-rod metal wind chime, a brass wu lou. Colours white and metallic. Avoid red, yellow, candles, red lights and a stove in the West, since Fire feeds Earth. Elderly or frail people, anyone undergoing treatment and pregnant women should avoid having their bed in the West this year. No ground breaking anywhere in the West, from 232.5 to 307.5 degrees, and do not sit with your back to the West. Dedicated articles: 2 Black 2027, Three Killings 2027, easing illness 2027.

North: 5 Yellow (五黃), the corner to leave alone

5 Yellow is Earth, also called Lian Zhen, the great sha of the flying stars. It has no period in which it prospers; in every period it is sha. The Kan palace is Water, and Earth controls Water: the star presses on the palace, affecting the middle son, the kidneys, the ears and the blood. The North is the heaviest corner of the home in 2027.

Rule number one: leave it still. No digging, drilling, knocking down walls, redoing floors, concrete drills or changing doors in the North from Li Chun 2027 to Li Chun 2028. Cure with Metal to drain Earth: a brass wu lou, six coins, a metal wind chime hung where a gentle breeze gives a clear sound, not constant jangling. Avoid red, yellow, heavy ceramics, red lights and stoves, since they all feed Earth.

What if your main door faces North? You do not need to change the door. Reduce the activity: use a side door if you have one, avoid doorbells and outdoor speakers that sound all the time, place a pair of brass wu lou on either side, and use a white or grey mat. If a bedroom is in the North, move the headboard away from the North wall if you can and put a brass wu lou at the head of the bed. 6. The three annual sha: Tai Sui, Sui Po, Three Killings

Besides the nine stars, every year has three sha directions calculated from the year's earthly branch. They do not belong to the flying star system but to the calendar system, codified in the Xie Ji Bian Fang Shu. Xuan Kong practitioners always consider them alongside the stars, because they decide where you may break ground and where you may not.

Tai Sui in the Wei mountain

Tai Sui is the position of the year's branch on the compass. This is a Ding Wei year, so Tai Sui sits in the Wei mountain, in the Southwest leaning toward the South. Tai Sui is likened to the official governing the year, so the main taboo is confrontation: do not work facing straight toward the Wei mountain, and do not break ground or dig there. Sitting with your back to Tai Sui is fine, as if someone has your back. If you already live in the home there is nothing to fear; only new actions such as starting construction or setting up a new desk need care.

Sui Po in the Chou mountain

Sui Po is the direction opposite Tai Sui, exactly 180 degrees away, this year in the Chou mountain in the Northeast. Sitting with your back to Sui Po means facing Tai Sui, so it is avoided. Starting construction or digging foundations in the Chou mountain this year tends to bring breakage, delays and overspending. This year Sui Po also overlaps the quarrelsome 3 Jade, so the Northeast must be kept even quieter.

Three Killings in the West

The Three Killings follow the triple combination of the year's branch. Wei belongs to the Hai Mao Wei trio that forms Wood; the Wood frame is strong in the East, so the sha sits on the opposite side, the West, across the Shen, You and Xu mountains: Robbery Sha in Shen, Calamity Sha in You, Year Sha in Xu. The rule is the reverse of Tai Sui: you may face the Three Killings, but not sit with your back to them. A desk in the West with your back to a west window is the arrangement to avoid most this year. The West also holds 2 Black, making it a double no ground breaking direction.

Who needs extra care

By common convention, people born in the Goat year are in Tai Sui (lunar years 1943, 1955, 1967, 1979, 1991, 2003, 2015), the Ox clashes with Tai Sui most strongly (1949, 1961, 1973, 1985, 1997, 2009, 2021), and the Dog because Wei and Xu are both a punishment and a destruction pair (1946, 1958, 1970, 1982, 1994, 2006, 2018). Many popular books also add the Dragon, as part of the four tomb branches Chen Xu Chou Wei, and the Rat, because Rat and Goat harm each other; these signs need only mild care. In feng shui terms, these signs should avoid putting their bed or desk in the Southwest and Northeast in 2027, and should not personally start construction in those two directions. 7. Ranking the nine palaces from best to worst

I score the nine palaces on three factors: the nature of the star, the element relationship between star and palace, and whether an annual sha overlaps it. This is a scale to help you prioritise, not an exam mark, so do not panic if your room sits in a low scoring corner.

1. Southeast (92): the 8 White wealth star. It only loses points because the Wood palace holds down the Earth star, fixed with warm light.
2. Northwest (90): 1 White fed by Metal, the growing qi of Period 9. Good for career and for the head of the household.
3. Center (86): 9 Purple in its prime. Activate it not with objects but with emptiness, cleanliness and light.
4. South (80): 4 Green, the scholar star, a little weak because it feeds the Fire palace; compensate with plants in water.
5. Southwest (70): 6 White is very strong but Tai Sui is here; use it gently, no ground breaking.
6. East (38): 7 Red, declining qi, piercing with the original number 3. Guard your money and your people.
7. Northeast (30): 3 Jade plus Sui Po. Quarrels and breakage.
8. West (20): 2 Black plus Three Killings. Illness and no ground breaking.
9. North (10): 5 Yellow, the great sha. Leave it still all year.

8. Arranging each room by the 2027 flying stars

This is the part you will use most. Each kind of space has a different need: the door must receive good qi, the bed must be calm, the stove must avoid places where fire strengthens a sha, the study desk needs the scholar star. The table below gives the preferred choices based on the annual stars. It does not replace fixed rules such as not placing the bed facing the door or the stove facing the sink; the two layers must work together.

Main door: where qi enters first

The main door matters most because every flow of qi passes through it. In 2027 a door in the Southeast, Northwest or South receives a good star; just keep it clean and bright, with a nice mat and the porch light on in the evening. A door in the North needs the most care, as I described under the Five Yellow. A door in the West: add a brass bell and avoid red or yellow mats. A door in the Northeast: use a red mat and a red porch light, and avoid potted plants on either side. A door in the East: think about security.

Bedroom: a third of your life is spent there

The bedroom is where you stay longest, so its star affects you fastest. In 2027 bedrooms in the Northwest, Southeast and South are very good. A room in the Southwest is good too, but Ox and Goat people should turn the bed so they do not lie pointing toward the Wei mountain. Rooms in the West and North need curing: metal, less red and yellow, and if you have another room, let the healthiest person sleep there. Within a single room you can also divide nine cells, just like the whole home, to choose where to put the headboard.

Stove: fire in the right place becomes a blessing

The stove carries Fire. Fire in the North feeds the Five Yellow, fire in the West feeds 2 Black, fire in the Northwest controls the Metal of the Qian palace; none of these is advisable. Fire in the East pairs 7 Red with Fire, a combination prone to clashes and short tempers. A stove in the Southeast bridges Fire to 8 White, and a stove in the South flows with the Li palace. An existing stove in the Northeast actually drains some of 3 Jade's strength, but do not build a new stove or renovate the kitchen there, because Sui Po sits in the Chou mountain. If your stove is in a bad corner there is no need to tear it out; just keep it clean, place a small bowl of water or a metal object nearby, and choose a good month if you plan to replace appliances. Offices and shops

In an office, the director's desk is best in the Southeast or Northwest, the accounts room and safe in the Southeast, and the reception desk in a good palace near the door. In a shop, the cash counter is ideal in the Southeast; avoid placing it in the East because of 7 Red. I have written two separate articles, offices 2027 and shops 2027, for business owners. 9. The eight house facings and their 2027 stars

The facing of a house is the direction the front looks out to, the opposite of the sitting, which is the back of the house. With annual stars, the quickest reading is to see which star sits at the front, where the door and living room usually are, and which star sits at the back, where bedrooms and kitchens often are. Do not read this table as which facing is good or bad for life. Annual stars are just one year's weather; a house facing East has a harder year now, but in 2028 its East front receives 6 White again. Every year is different, so what you need is gentle adjustment year by year, not selling the house or changing the door direction.

10. The 2027 monthly stars and the months to be careful

Within the year, each solar month has its own star chart called the monthly stars, which also fly along the Lo Shu path. The rule for the starting monthly star: in Zi, Wu, Mao and You years the Yin month starts with 8 in the center, in Yin, Shen, Si and Hai years it starts with 2, and in Chen, Xu, Chou and Wei years it starts with 5. 2027 is a Wei year, so the Yin month has star 5 in the center, and each following month goes back one number: Mao 4, Chen 3, Si 2, Wu 1, Wei 9, Shen 8, You 7, Xu 6, Hai 5, Zi 4, Chou 3.

Monthly stars lie over the annual stars the way weekly weather lies over a season's climate. Most of the time they only make the annual star a little stronger or weaker. But some meetings deserve attention: 5 meeting 5, 2 meeting 5 means illness and mishap; 2 meeting 2 doubles the sickness star; 2 meeting 3 is the bull fight, quarrels; 3 meeting 7 is robbery; 6 meeting 7 is crossed swords, collisions; 7 meeting 9 is fire hazard; and 9 meeting 5 or 2 means Fire feeds Earth and strengthens the sha. Three groups of months to remember

The Wei month (07/07-07/08/2027) is the heaviest. The monthly stars are identical to the annual stars, so the North becomes 5 over 5 and the West 2 over 2. That month all repair work in the North and West must stop completely, frail people should move rooms temporarily if they sleep in those two corners, and take good care of the elderly. In return the good corners are doubled too: Southeast 8 over 8, Northwest 1 over 1, South 4 over 4, excellent for closing important matters in those rooms.

The Chen, Chou and Xu months form the 2 meets 5 group. In the Chen month (05/04-05/05/2027) and the Chou month (06/01-03/02/2028) the monthly 5 flies into the West and meets the annual 2 Black. In the Xu month (08/10-06/11/2027) the monthly 2 flies into the North and meets the Five Yellow. These three months are the time to hang extra metal, look after your health and book check-ups for older relatives. Also, in the Chen and Chou months the monthly 2 enters the Southeast, and in the Xu month the monthly 5 enters the Southeast: do not launch big ventures from the wealth corner or move the safe that month.

The Yin, Mao, Hai and Zi months form the 5 meets 9 and 3 meets 7 group. In the Yin and Hai months the monthly 5 enters the center and meets 9 Purple: Fire feeds Earth, so keep the center still that month and do not chisel or drill. In the Mao and Zi months the monthly 9 flies into the North and strengthens the Five Yellow, while 3 meets 7 in the Northeast. All four months have 3 meeting 7 or 2 meeting 7 in the East or West, so lock up well and be careful with fire and electrics. In the Si month the monthly 2 enters the center and meets 9, in the Wu month the monthly 5 enters the South right in exam season, and in the You month 7 meets 9 in the center: check the wiring and the gas stove.

11. From 2026 to 2027: what to move before Li Chun

Each star moves back one number at the new year, so the 2027 chart is the 2026 chart "sliding" along the flight path. Press the buttons to watch the nine stars change places. The most important change: the Five Yellow moves from the South to the North, so the best corner in many homes in 2026 (the North with 6 White) becomes the heaviest corner in 2027.

Five things to finish before 4 February 2027

1. Move the Five Yellow cures from the South corner to the North corner.
2. Move the study desk from the Northeast to the South or Northwest.
3. Shift your wealth activation: stop activating the East, keep the Southeast, add the Northwest.
4. Clear the center of the home to receive 9 Purple, and replace a central water feature (which suited 1 White in 2026) with a warm yellow lamp.
5. Finish any repairs in the North and West before Li Chun if they are under way. After that date, stop until next year.

12. Timeline and checklist for the whole year

1. December 2026 - January 2027Preparation

   Divide your home into nine palaces and mark the North, West and Northeast. Finish repairs in these corners. Buy metal cures in advance.

2. 4 February 2027, Li ChunSwitch the star chart

   Move the study desk, move the brass wu lou to the North, the brass bell to the West, a red light to the Northeast, warm light in the Southeast and the center.

3. 6 February 2027, Ding Wei TetFirst outing, first footing

   Choose your first outing direction and first footer by the dedicated article; avoid opening the door to welcome important guests from the North on the first day of the year.

4. Chen month, 05/04-05/05Monthly 5 meets 2 in the West

   Hang extra metal in the West, watch the health of older relatives. Do not touch the safe in the Southeast.

5. Wu month, 06/06-06/07Exam season

   The monthly 5 enters the South: keep the study corner still, no work on the child's room, and the child keeps studying as usual.

6. Wei month, 07/07-07/08The tensest month

   North 5 over 5, West 2 over 2. Stop all repairs, frail people move rooms for now. The good corners are doubled too, good for closing deals in the Southeast and Northwest.

7. Xu month, 08/10-06/11Monthly 2 meets 5 in the North

   Check that the cures in the North are still in place, keep the elderly warm. The wealth corner has the monthly 5 this month, so hold off on expansion.

8. Chou month, 06/01-03/02/2028Close the year, prepare for 2028

   2 meets 5 in the West again. Year-end clean-up, and prepare for the Wu Shen 2028 chart: 8 White in the center, the Five Yellow in the Southwest.

A checklist to print and stick on the fridge

• I have divided the nine palaces and know which rooms are in the North, West and Northeast.
• North corner: no repairs, a brass wu lou or six coins, nothing red or yellow.
• West corner: a brass bell or metal wind chime, no stove, no frail person's bed.
• Northeast corner: a red light or red object, no water, no plants, no meeting table.
• East corner: a vase of water, good locks, fewer sharp metal objects, no cash kept there.
• Southeast corner: clean, bright, warm light, a safe or desk.
