undefined
⚡ Executive Summary & Key Takeaways
- Shi Gan Ke Ying (十干克應): The 81 active (and 100 total including Jia Zi Wu) pairings of a Heaven Plate Stem sitting atop an Earth Plate Stem within the same palace.
- Top Three Auspicious Stem Formations: Qinglong Fanshou (青龍返首, Wu + Bing), Feiniao Diexue (飛鳥跌穴, Bing + Wu), and Yunü Shoumen (玉女守門, Zhi Shi Gate landing on Earth Plate Ding).
- Major Inauspicious Stem Formations: Baihu猖狂 (白虎猖狂, Xin + Yi), Tengshe Yaojiao (螣蛇夭矯, Gui + Ding), Zhuque Toujiang (朱雀投江, Ding + Gui), Taibai Ruying (太白入熒, Geng + Bing), and Ying Ru Taibai (熒入太白, Bing + Geng).
- The Geng Combinations: Geng + Gui (Big Grid 大格), Geng + Ren (Small/Moving Grid 上格/小格), Geng + Ji (Punishment Grid 刑格), and Geng + Day/Year Stem (Fu Gan / Sui Ge).
1. Mechanics of Heaven Plate (Guest) Over Earth Plate (Host)
In every Qi Men Dun Jia palace, two Stems interact vertically: the Heaven Plate Stem (天盤干) rotates with the Nine Stars and represents the arriving external force, the Guest, and visible action; the Earth Plate Stem (地盤干) remains anchored in the palace and represents the Host, internal foundation, and hidden outcome. Combining the 9 active stems ($9 imes 9 = 81$ base pairs, expanded to 100 when distinguishing Jia Zi Wu from pure Wu Earth) forms the canonical 100 Ten-Stem Interactions (十干克應).
2. Supreme Auspicious Formations (大吉奇格)
Azure Dragon Turns Its Head (青龍返首)
Heaven Plate Wu (Jia Zi) over Earth Plate Bing Fire. Jia Wood generates Bing Fire, and Bing Fire generates Wu Earth while restraining Geng Metal. Supreme for capital raising, promotions, and high-level approvals (unless Wu suffers Punishment in Zhen 3 or Bing enters Grave in Qian 6).
Flying Bird Falls into Cave (飛鳥跌穴)
Heaven Plate Bing Fire returning to Earth Plate Wu (Jia Zi). Like a soaring bird gliding effortlessly back into its warm nest, resources and approvals arrive naturally with minimal friction.
Jade Maiden Guards the Door (玉女守門)
The Hour's Zhi Shi (Duty Envoy Gate) lands in the palace hosting Earth Plate Ding Fire. Ideal for private negotiations, strategic alliances, and discreet contract closings.
3. Major Inauspicious Formations (大凶惡格)
| Formation Name | Stem Pairing (Heaven + Earth) | Elemental Conflict & Practical Warning |
|---|---|---|
| White Tiger Runs Wild (白虎猖狂) | Xin + Yi (辛加乙) | Guest Yin Metal (Xin) ruthlessly chops Host Yin Wood (Yi). Severe risk of partnership breakup, domestic strife, or sudden financial loss for the Host. |
| Azure Dragon Flees (青龍逃走) | Yi + Xin (乙加辛) | Guest Yin Wood (Yi) lands atop Host Yin Metal (Xin). The Guest suffers damage; avoid initiating lawsuits or aggressive expansion. |
| Surging Snake Twists (螣蛇夭矯) | Gui + Ding (癸加丁) | Guest Yin Water extinguishes Host Yin Fire. Lawsuits, contract fraud, rumors, and inflammatory disputes even when paired with an Auspicious Gate. |
| Vermilion Bird Plunges into River (朱雀投江) | Ding + Gui (丁加癸) | Guest Yin Fire falls into Host Yin Water. Official documents lost, exam failure, communication breakdown, and legal rejection. |
| Venus Enters Mars (太白入熒) | Geng + Bing (庚加丙) | Enemy Geng Metal invades Bing Fire. Advancing brings theft or ambush; favors defensive Host posture while punishing rash Guest offense. |
| Mars Enters Venus (熒入太白) | Bing + Geng (丙加庚) | Bing Fire sits atop Geng Metal. The enemy retreats, yet pursuing hastily drains resources and risks loss of assets. |
| Big Grid & Punishment Grid (大格 · 刑格) | Geng + Gui (大格) · Geng + Ji (刑格) | Roadblocks in travel, supply chain disruption, litigation, and severe internal friction. |
4. Summary Matrix of the Nine Stems
When synthesizing any stem pair: (1) Wu (戊) governs capital and real estate; (2) Ji (己) governs private agendas and hidden flaws; (3) Geng (庚) governs obstacles and competitors; (4) Xin (辛) governs errors, innovation, and legal penalties; (5) Ren (壬) governs macro-flow and movement; (6) Gui (癸) governs networks and covert traps; (7) Ding (丁) governs precision breakthroughs; (8) Bing (丙) governs authority and publicity; (9) Yi (乙) governs negotiation and gradual craftsmanship.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Does Azure Dragon Turns Its Head (Wu + Bing) guarantee success in every palace?
No. If Wu + Bing lands in Zhen 3 Palace, Wu suffers Six-Instrument Punishment (Zi-Mao); if it lands in Qian 6 Palace, both Bing and Wu enter Grave (Xu). Always verify that the palace is free from the Four Afflictions first.
