Thánh đường lớn nhất khu phố cổ Baščaršija, do Gazi Husrev-beg lập năm 1531, được coi là công trình kiến trúc Ottoman quan trọng nhất Bosnia và Herzegovina. Mái vòm chính đường kính khoảng 13 mét, tháp gọi lễ cao 45,6 mét, sân có vòi nước rửa tay mười hai cạnh. Năm 1898 thánh đường có đèn điện, được nguồn địa phương ghi là thánh đường đầu tiên trên thế giới thắp đèn điện.
